Volunteering & Shadowing

Volunteering Opportunities:

Spring 2018:

Thursday, March 8th – Second Harvest Heartland (6-8PM)

Address: 6325 Sandburg Rd #1700, Golden Valley, MN 55427

Second Harvest is about a half hour drive away from the U, We will likely be carpooling there. The event usually involves packing food from larger shipping boxes into smaller packages to ship to individuals and families. Previous packing opportunities involved sorting & packaging rice and carrots. It’s a lot of fun, goes by quickly, and most importantly very much helps out the community. You are all encouraged to come!

Give Kids A Smile – Volunteer Opportunity!

It is that time of year again! Time to sign up for Give Kids A Smile and St. Paul Dental Connect. For those of you who are unaware, GKAS is an event exclusively for kids. This is a nationwide event in which dentists open their clinics to provide free care for kids. We will be holding our event from 8am-4pm on Friday February 24th and Saturday February 25th. St. Paul Dental Connect is exclusive to our clinic and is a large walk in clinic for adults (and kids if they present) from 8am-4pm on Friday March 24th and Saturday March 25th.

If you are interested in the Give Kids a Smile event or would like more information, please contact me as soon as possible at amoody@ugmtc.org

If you have volunteered for our Give Kids a Smile events before, please bring your shirt with. If you have not volunteered for this event before, we will have some back up shirts but they will be limited as we will not be ordering them for this event.

If you are licensed, you will have to bring a mini-license or your renewal license with you in order to see patients this day. Unfortunately, a copy of these licenses is not adequate.

If you are interested in the Saint Paul Dental Connect, please contact me at amoody@ugmtc.org

If you have any questions please let me know.

Thank you!

The Pre-Dental Club has a long history of reaching out to our to our community locally and internationally. We are proud to have contributed to Give Kids a Smile Day, Holiday Helping Hands, Bolivia Smile, and Hand in Health.

Give Kids a Smile Day

Sharing and Caring Hands coordinates an annual project to provide dental care to children in homeless shelters, and February 5th, 2011 was its 11th anniversary.

Our members have volunteered several years to direct patients through the triage clinic, serve as interpreters, paint faces, and help where needed. We look forward to next year!

Stay tuned for the date for the 2012 Give Kids a Smile Day.

Feed My Starving Children

Members of our club have volunteered on more than one occasion to package meals to be shipped through out the world. On one visit, we helped prepare16,000 meals in a little under an hour!
